Baltimore Black Trans Lives Matter Protest
Members of the Baltimore LGBTQIA+ community and allies came together to peacefully protest the rights and deaths of black transgender people on June, 5, 2020. The protest began at Baltimore City Hall where black transgender men, women and non-binary folk shared stories, encouraging words, and demanded justice. Protesters then marched around the downtown area of Baltimore city where onlookers and drivers were ultimately supportive of the march. They occupied space in several intersections to kneel and lay on the ground in protest. Ahead of the march, Baltimore Police Department vehicles cleared the way to block off traffic. This event peacefully joined nationwide protests to put an end to police brutality and racism following the death of George Floyd.
